Saints preparing to face 49ers backup QB, not Brock Purdy, in Week 2
You never want to be starting a backup quarterback in Week 2, but that might be where the San Francisco 49ers are headed. At least that's what the New Orleans Saints are preparing for. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that the Saints are planning for Mac Jones, not Brock Purdy, to lead San Francisco's offense this Sunday.
"So I can tell you, talking to people in New Orleans, they are preparing to see Mac Jones," Russini said on her Scoop City podcast. "I think because it's so early in the season, the thought process is 'let's get (Purdy) healthy, let's get him right.'"
